About

I'm a co-founder and head of product at Pilot. For 5+ years I've built consumer and AI products from 0 to 1 across web, iOS, and Android, then grown them through acquisition, activation, retention, and referral.

I lead with empathy and work hands-on alongside design and engineering, whether wireframing in Figma, coding frontend features, or refining growth experiments, to solve real user problems and drive sustainable growth.

I believe the best products start with deep empathy for real problems, move fast from idea to launch, and grow through sharp product judgment.

My strengths

Product strategy

I set the roadmap and take products from 0 to 1. At Pilot that includes Explore, the AI trip planner, and group and retreat booking.

AI products

I ship AI where it removes work for travelers. Pilot's planner builds an itinerary in five minutes or less, and our MCP server lets Claude and ChatGPT search live hotel rates. I choose models with evals that count harmful answers before speed or cost.

Growth

I grew organic traffic from 300 to 300k visits a month with an in-house content operation and little paid spend.

Hands-on design and build

I work in Figma and production code next to design and engineering. I've launched on web, iOS, and Android, and I wrote two-thirds of Pilot's ops console.

Pilot

2021–Present

Co-founder and head of product

Pilot is a free web and mobile app where 120,000+ travelers in 183 countries plan, decide, and book trips together. It's rated 4.7/5 and has been covered by TechCrunch, WIRED, Forbes, and The Washington Post. I own the roadmap and the product process across web and mobile.

Key products and features

AI Trip Planner

2024Itinerary in 5 minutes or less

I led Pilot's AI trip planner. Travelers describe a trip and get a full itinerary they can edit and share in five minutes or less. It suggests ideas with 60+ filters and imports booking emails, files, and images straight into the plan.

Pilot MCP Server

2026Three read-only tools, no auth

I designed and shipped Pilot's remote MCP server. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other AI assistants can search live hotel inventory and compare real room rates. Setup is one URL, with no API key, sign-up, or OAuth.

The first design put authenticated booking inside the chat. I cut it to three read-only tools. Without a write path there's nothing to authorize, so any client can connect, and the last step sends the traveler to Pilot to book. In Claude and ChatGPT, results show up as photo cards with a map.

Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI.

Example request

Find 4-star hotels near the old town in Lisbon for three nights next month, under $250 a night.
  1. search_hotels

Finds bookable hotels for the place and dates, with prices and guest ratings.

  2. get_hotel_details

Gets full details for the hotels worth a closer look.

  3. get_room_rates_for_hotel

Prices each room for the exact dates.

  4. Book on Pilot

Hands the traveler a link to book the hotel on Pilot.

Pilot Explore

2024–20263.2M+ hotels bookable

I led the redesign of Pilot's discovery and booking experience, focused on monetization and supply partnerships. Travelers can now book 3.2M+ hotels with instant confirmation and member-only rates. We shipped simpler navigation, a reservations checkout, and public stay pages. Early engagement rose 20%+, and Google approved Pilot for distribution on Google Travel.

Control Tower

20267 tools in one console

I started Pilot's ops console alone in April 2026 and have written two-thirds of its code. It puts everything about a booking on one page and turns recurring ops chores into worklists.

Selling hotel rooms comes with work the traveler never sees: screening for fraud, confirming with the hotel, answering the guest, refunding, and reconciling with suppliers. At Pilot that work was spread across seven tools, including payment and support dashboards, a shared inbox, Slack alerts, and spreadsheets.

I started Control Tower as a prototype on mock data shaped like our production database, and had it deployed within four days. Now one page shows everything about a booking, with an audit log that names who changed what. ⌘K finds a booking by any of nine identifiers.

Recurring chores became worklists. Hotel confirmation calls run from a keyboard-driven queue that loads the whole week, so nobody changes pages mid-call. Supplier reconciliation went from a hand-filled spreadsheet to a page where ops paste a statement and see what matches. Bans got a console with reasons, expiry, and an audit trail. Engineers on the team added cancellations, refunds, and booking recovery.

Watchtower Fraud Policy

2026No good bookings denied

I audited 90 days of decisions from Pilot's fraud engine and rewrote its policy so it denies only on clear evidence. In a replay, it turned away no good bookings and sent every known fraud case to review.

Watchtower is Pilot's fraud engine. It scores every booking during checkout, then approves it, asks for stronger authentication, holds it for a person, or denies it.

Fraud rules can fail two ways. Too strict, and good travelers get turned away. Too loose, and chargebacks get through. I audited 90 days of Watchtower's production decisions, tested each signal against what it claimed to measure, and fixed or retired the ones that didn't hold up.

Then I rewrote the decision policy around one rule: deny only on clear evidence, and send anything uncertain to a person, because a hold can be undone and a denial can't. Replayed against the same 90 days, the new policy turned away no good bookings and sent every known fraud case to review.

I also added a second, LLM-based check that runs in shadow mode. I chose its model with an eval that ranks harmful mistakes above accuracy, speed, and cost. Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite got all 90 cases right. Claude Haiku 4.5 got 87, and all three misses were the harmful kind.

Where a booking lands

Three kinds of booking, before and after

  • Clean bookingNothing unusualClean booking: approved.
  • Unusual, no proofOdd, but explainableUnusual, no proof: denied.
  • Clear evidenceA hard fraud signalClear evidence: denied.

A hold can be undone and a denial can't. The new policy denies only on clear evidence and sends everything uncertain to a person.

Group and Retreat Booking

2025Up to 30% off room blocks

I came up with Pilot's concierge booking service for groups of 12 or more and built it. It covers hotel room blocks, wedding blocks, and company retreats. Pilot negotiates room blocks at up to 30% off and charges nothing for sourcing. Clients include 240 Tutoring and Box of Crayons.

Mobile App Launch

202425,000+ downloads in Q1

I led the launch of Pilot's first native iOS and Android apps, built for use on the trip itself with offline-friendly views and push notifications. The apps reached a 4.6 App Store rating and 25,000+ downloads in the first quarter.

FlightDeck Content

2022–2023300k monthly organic traffic

I designed and built the content operation behind Pilot's travel blog, with 40+ writers, editors, and publishers. It peaked at 300k organic visits a month.
